Case NVIDIA

European recall of the SHIELD Tablet K1

Introduction

For NVIDIA, Mailit4u managed the full European recall of the SHIELD Tablet K1. The recall was initiated voluntarily due to a potential battery overheating risk.

What followed was not a standard fulfilment project, but a complex international operation in which customer validation, replacement shipments and the return handling of devices containing lithium batteries had to be managed with precision.

The challenge

The recall had to be carried out across Europe in a controlled and error-free way, involving several critical process steps.

Users registered through a dedicated landing page. Their serial number and version number then had to be checked, with validation across three different tablet versions. Once approved, each customer had to receive a replacement device, with the new serial number correctly linked to the individual customer.

At the same time, the old tablet had to be returned and processed in accordance with specific regulations for lithium batteries. For countries such as Russia, Ukraine and Scandinavia, this also required complex shipping documentation.

In this project, flawless execution was not a preference. It was an absolute requirement.

The solution

Mailit4u set up the recall process centrally, securely and in a fully controlled way.

  1. Validated customer registration
Users registered through the landing page. Every night, customer files were processed and checked against serial numbers and product versions.
  2. Replacement shipment with correct serial-number matching
After approval, a new tablet was shipped immediately. The new serial number was accurately linked to the correct customer.
  3. Clear return instructions
Each customer received clear return instructions using a yellow form, explaining how to return the old device.
  4. International return logistics
Mailit4u also prepared and coordinated the return process, including requirements for lithium batteries, shipping documentation and country-specific regulations.

Results

✔ Full European recall centrally managed
✔ Controlled validation of serial numbers and product versions
✔ Correct matching of replacement devices to individual customers
✔ Safe return handling of devices containing lithium batteries
